For some kids, the school lunch table can be a lonely place. A star wide receiver from Florida State University made sure that wasn’t the case the other day for a boy with autism. Way to go, Travis Rudolph!

Wow. An incredible story of survival coming out of the overnight shooting incident at Florida State University. Worth a read.
From the article, a quote from FSU student Jason Derfuss:
“The truth is I was almost killed tonight and God intervened,” he wrote. “I know conceptually He can do all things, but to physically witness the impossible and to be surrounded by such grace is indescribable. To God be the glory, forever and ever, Amen.”

I still can’t believe it. My favorite sports team, the Florida State Seminoles somehow found a way to win against conference rival the Clemson Tigers last night – in a game where they had every opportunity to lose and end their run as the nation’s #1 team. What a game.

Without Winston, FSU Survives Clemson In OT
The crazy, back and forth battle was hard to watch for die-hard Seminoles fans (myself included) at times, as the offense struggled mightily throughout the night. Backup quarterback Sean Maguire did his best to lead the offense in Jameis Winston’s absence, but it really didn’t look good at times and the result was in doubt all the way until the end.
Fortunately, a Clemson fumble near the end of regulation gave FSU the opportunity to finally pull this one out in overtime. That’s when Florida State’s defense shut down the Tigers on fourth and short, a play call that was undoubtedly made due to Clemson’s kicker missing two field goals earlier in the game.
From there, FSU discovered its running game for the first time all night, and I can only imagine the decibel level at Doak Campbell Stadium as Karlos Williams took it around the corner for a touchdown on the Seminoles’ ensuing overtime possession to win it.
Safe to say, I got a workout in just from jumping up and down at the good and not so good plays throughout the game. Never a dull moment, guys. Way to get the job done last night. Still #1. Go ‘Noles!

I’m so excited that Florida State won the big game tonight! What a roller coaster. I actually turned it off in the middle of the second quarter, it was too hard to watch while they were losing so badly.
But they never gave up. Even when Auburn put that TD on the board with just more than a minute left, the guys kept their cool and drove all the way down the field for the winning touchdown. Unreal.
Friends, I’m a huge, huge fan of Florida State football. Still in post-game excitement mode as I type this post, so there really isn’t much substance to it other than to say YEAH FSU!!! Way to go. Congratulations on an outstanding season.

I had the chance to relax a bit today and in the process, saw some fantastic finishes as part of Rivalry Week in college football.
My beloved Florida State Seminoles weren’t involved in one of those close endings, but a convincing win over the rival Florida Gators to get to within one win of playing for a national title was just fine with me 🙂
Then there was the Michigan-Ohio State game. Kudos to Michigan coach Brady Hoke for going for the win on the two point conversion instead of kicking the extra point and heading to overtime. It didn’t work and Michigan ended up losing by that lone point, but I like the gutsy call anyway.
After that, there was the Georgia Tech-Georgia game. Two overtimes, and a final play that looked more like something you’d see in a pinball game finally resulting in a Georgia win in a back and forth game.
Finally, the finish of all finishes in the Auburn-Alabama Iron Bowl game. The unthinkable! One second gets put back on the clock at the end of regulation in a tie game, giving Alabama a chance to steal a win at the last second and preserve its #1 ranking. Show of hands who predicted Auburn’s Chris Davis to catch the ball after the kick fell just short of the goal post and then run it back within inches of the sideline, through the entire Alabama team and into the end zone to win it and shock the sports world in the process. Yeah, I didn’t see that coming either. Wow.
Unbelievable stuff. What a day! Heck, the night games are barely under way so who knows what else might happen tonight in the wild endings department. But my oh my, it was fun watching some great games this afternoon. College football is awesome!
