Turn Around, Don’t Drown

Graphic: Turn Around, Don't Drown.

Sadly, people are killed every year when their vehicles are carried away by floodwaters. This has happened recently, during severe flooding.

It doesn’t take much water to move your car and leave you stuck in a potentially serious, even deadly situation. So, just a friendly reminder today that you should never attempt to drive through a flooded road.

Be safe out there, everyone!

Ice Storm

Ice 1

So…this is what we were dealing with around here today. Yowza! Snow is one thing, but ice causes all kinds of issues out on the roads and in general.

A few upsides. Jim Cantore of The Weather Channel mentioned several of my tweets for work. Gotta love that. And, I took my camera out for the first time in a long time. Snapped a few pics of the icy coating on my car. Good times.

Hope it’s warmer wherever you are. 🙂

Pray for Oklahoma

For the safety of those working to help or find people.

For peace for those who have lost loved ones.

For strength in the days and weeks to come as many are weary from having nowhere to go home to right now.

For miracles that those who may still be trapped and alive will be found and brought to safety.

For hope for everyone impacted by the tornado, that they will know God is with them.

You’re in my prayers, Oklahoma.

Sandy

Would you take a minute to say a prayer for the folks in the path of this storm? Those who have already experienced it, and those who will be very soon.

Meanwhile, for anyone in the northeast United States who might be reading this: Please take this storm and the warnings that come with it seriously. Don’t try to go out and check out the scene – now or immediately after the storm. Let the emergency personnel do what they need to do.

http://www.ready.gov/hurricanes is a great source of information for what to do before, during, and after a hurricane. Be safe everyone.

Plant Seeds

Ecclesiastes 11:4
If you worry about the weather and don’t plant seeds, you won’t harvest a crop.

Anyone else see the wisdom in this?

Makes sense…if a farmer spent all spring wondering if the summer was going to be too dry, or too wet, or whatever and never bothered to get anything in the ground he wouldn’t have much to do come fall because there wouldn’t be anything there to harvest.

Same with the things we spend time worrying about. I have them, you have them, we all have them. But, are we spending too much time focusing on those worries that we’re not being productive with the lives we’ve been given to live? Are we not investing in our faith because we’re unsure about a certain outcome to something we’re facing instead?

I’m taking this one with me today, it really turned on a light bulb for me. Hope it’s helpful to you too. Stop worrying…plant some seeds instead.

Have a great day.
