Flying Faith

I recently went on a wonderful vacation with my wife to California (travel blog posts, coming soon.)

Getting there required a plane ride, which for me, is a major deal. I dislike flying. Understatement of the year, there. Flying to me is basically a mild form of torture.

I don’t know what it is, but I have never enjoyed flying. Numerous incidents of strong turbulence over the years, whatever it’s been…I dread flying and do pretty much anything to avoid it.

For this trip though, it meant getting on a plane. So, I did. 🙂

Takeoff was fine, and we got to cruising altitude – but that’s when the bumps started. A few here and there, then the flight attendants were told to sit down, because it was going to be “choppy”. Ayiee.

Plane

It got really bumpy. I was entering panic mode. But, check this out.

I do a little reading on planes to pass the time. Happened to be on this page, right as this was going on.

Matthew 8:23-27
Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

Just a moment or two after I started to read this – the bumps stopped. Everything smoothed out. It was completely calm. Amazing.

Great metaphor for life here, friends.

What are you afraid of? What area of your life is a little short on faith right now? Flying is definitely one of mine! But God says, if we give Him our fear and replace it with faith, He will make things calm in our lives. Amen!

Let your faith fly today, everyone. Have a great day.

Myrtle Beach

…was amazing. What a great trip.

We hit the ocean, enjoyed the pools at the hotel, walked along Ocean Boulevard, played at the arcades, saw a hula and fire show, went bowling, bought some souvenirs at the beachwear stores, and were complete tourists in the city where I used to live. It was great.

Saw a bunch of old friends in the process while we were there, which was really terrific. It was good to see my people 🙂 I miss that place. Fun times and some good memories made this past weekend for sure. I’m thankful and blessed to have had the opportunity to go.

Until next time, Myrtle Beach…

Merry Christmas

Just wanted to take a few moments and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. From my house to yours, I hope it’s a great one wherever you are.

Vacationing in Costa Rica was a lot of fun and a memorable experience. Will be sure to write about it soon.

For now, enjoy this truly wonderful and special time.

Merry Christmas.

Time to get away…

…for a week or so. Vacation is about to begin!

Heading to Costa Rica with my girlfriend. Neither of us have ever been, so it promises to be an adventure. Looking forward to some time away together and also the beautiful scenery that I’ve only seen in photos to this point.

Wishing all of you who read this blog a wonderful week ahead. I hope your days are sunny and your smiles are many 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to read the posts I write. It means a lot.

Be blessed, friends. To those of you with blogs of your own, I look forward to reading your posts when I get back.

Vacation

My friends, the time has come for me to embark on a journey…a journey to sunny southern California for a weeklong vacation with my family 🙂

I am looking forward to spending time with the core group of people in my life. It will be great to have everyone in the same place and I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to be together with my loved ones. It should be a memorable trip.

To my fellow bloggers, let me just take a moment today to say thank you for continuing to stop by and for reading the things I write here. I am humbled by your kind comments and by the fact that you take the time to read these posts.

I really enjoy reading the posts on your blogs as well. I am inspired by so much of what I see written by all of you. Keep up the good work!

I’ll have my laptop with me on the trip so who knows, a mid-vacation blog post could be forthcoming. If not, I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Until next time, God bless.
