Chill Out!

Ever notice that the more you try to be ‘in control’ of things in your life, the less that seems to work?

Trying to force our will to happen in life is like getting on a stationary bike and expecting it go somewhere…no matter how hard you try, you just end up exhausted, and not satisfied with the result.

So just a reminder today (to myself and anyone else who might need it) to chill out! God knows what He’s doing. The right things for your life are happening, and will continue to happen, at the right time.

Have a great day.

What to Believe

We believe what people tell us. But we can trust what God says even more.’
-1 John 5:9a

I read this today and it stuck with me.

Voices

There are a lot of voices out there. Ours, the many other people in our various circles, near and far. Voices on television, the internet – so many people saying things.

Whether it is people we know or people who aren’t talking directly to us at all, we have so many voices in our ear all the time. So out of all of this information and opinion, what do we believe?

Some of what is said to us is what we consider good. Some of it isn’t. It’s a lot to process, and a lot to think about sometimes.

But in the end, as the verse above states…regardless of what we’re hearing, we can believe and trust in what God says about us above everything else.

It’s so important to do that. I don’t do the best job of it, I’ll be the first to admit it. That’s putting it lightly. But seeking approval and affirmation from God above all the other voices is where true peace will be found. It’s where we will find our real answers.

So while it’s ok to listen to all of the voices that are there, trust what God says about you the most and go with that. You’ll never go wrong if you do.

Have a great day!

Words of encouragement, as written by a seven-year-old

Bible Verses

My youngest son learned these two Bible verses in his Wednesday night youth group class at our church. He (and his older brother) wrote them down on our dry erase board which hangs above the kitchen sink.

Some pretty good advice in these words. Hope this encourages you today.

Have a great day!

Good Things (Sunshine vs Clouds)

‘You will have a hard time ever being happy if you aren’t thankful for the good things in your life right now.’

These words were included in an inspirational poster image I came across on Facebook the other day. Plenty of truth in them, no?

I mean, it makes sense when you really think about it. If we only look at what the seemingly bad things are, we’re sunk. Negative thoughts have power, just like positive ones do. But as the old phrase says, ‘Look on the bright side.’

Sunshine & Clouds

Doesn’t mean things won’t get rough at times or that there won’t be reasons to be sad. It’s gonna happen. But making a conscious decision (you may need to remember to do this several times a day at certain points of your life) to acknowledge that while the skies might not be very clear, or even look completely cloudy…the sun is shining somewhere.

The stuff that has gotten you down is only keeping you there because you let it. So I encourage you today to focus on the sunshine, not the clouds. You have a lot going for you. Trust that God knows what He’s doing with your life, even when you don’t, and make the most of this awesome day you get to live and enjoy. Good things are coming to you 🙂
