The Power to Revoke

‘If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself but to your estimate of it…and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.’
-Marcus Aurelius

Facebook decided to give me the Timeline feature the other day. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t thrilled about it at first. But, it’s turned out to be a good thing because I’ve had the opportunity to look back at years’ worth of status updates while updating my page. Enjoying the trip back in time.

Meanwhile I found the above quote from a few years ago and thought I’d share it here today.

What external stressors do you need to revoke right now? What are you looking at in a negative way?

You have the power to make the choice to erase that pain and replace it with positive thoughts and gratitude for the good things in your life.

So what are you waiting for? Change your perspective and watch your joy increase.

Have a great day.

Facebook Timeline: Time’s Almost Up

Yes, it’s true…

From the article:

Over the next few weeks, everyone will get timeline. When you get timeline, you’ll have 7 days to preview what’s there now.

So get ready, people. ‘Like’ it or not, if you use Facebook you’re going to be using it with this completely different interface starting very soon.

Of course, as with all Facebook changes, it has to be pointed out this is a FREE service that we’re all using. Kind of trumps any complaints one might have about the things these people decide to do with their website that we are enjoying at no cost 🙂

That being said, this has generated probably more divisive chatter than any other change Facebook has made in the past and it’s always interesting to hear different thoughts on things.

What do you think? Feel free to comment or just vote in the poll below.

Oh, and be sure to take a good look at your profile once Timeline gets activated for your account. Here’s an article with some helpful advice for customizing your new look.

And to answer your question…no I haven’t changed mine yet. Perhaps I’ll spend an afternoon this weekend going through the past 3.5 years of my life. That should be interesting. Gotta do it though, because Facebook isn’t going to wait much longer for holdouts like me. Deep breath. We can do this!
