What to Ask For?

Proverbs 8:11
Wisdom is worth much more than precious jewels or anything else you desire.

I’ll be honest, when I first started praying, I had no idea what I should be asking God for. Sometimes, I still need a little direction when it comes to talking with Him.

What about you?

Let me pass along this small piece of advice. Above all else, ask God for wisdom. Like the verse above says, it’s valuable. Really valuable.

I mean, think about it for a minute, and it makes sense. We need wisdom to make the right choices in life. We need wisdom to avoid making the wrong ones. Wisdom is where it all begins.

So, just wanted to put it out there if you’ve never known what to pray – or, even if you do. Seek wisdom.

God will take you where you need to go – it never hurts to ask him what the best way is to get there. 🙂

Dallas Aftermath / Pray for Peace

The deadliest attack on law enforcement since 9/11 in our country happened in Dallas last night. Police officers, protecting people at a peaceful rally, were murdered by a coward. This sickens me. I have worked with dozens, possibly hundreds, of police officers during the course of my careers. They are, by and large, good people. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it is to do their jobs. Today, let’s pray for every member of law enforcement. While we’re at it, let’s pray for our country as a whole. Pray for peace. Pray for unity and not division. Pray for understanding. Pray for healing. We all need it.

God > Evil

Hey, friends. How about taking a moment or two tonight to pray for everyone impacted by acts of terror – can we all do that? Pray for peace, healing and strength. Pray for more love and less hate in this world.

Evil wants to overcome good, but that will never happen. Evil wants us to live in fear and fear death while we’re alive, but our God is stronger and death was defeated when Jesus went to the Cross!

Evil can’t win. It may look like that sometimes, but it will never, ever happen. No amount of evil can ever triumph over the eternal good that God promises us, through Jesus.

So, go out and live without from fear tonight, tomorrow and every day God gives you. Spread peace, love and joy everywhere you go.

We all have the ability to make this world a better place. Let’s get to it!

Life Changer

“God is a life changer and today, your life can be changed!”

Heard those words at church one morning. They’re so true!

Whatever your situation is right now and whatever difficulties you may be facing, God can – and will – step in to change it for the better. All you have to do is let Him.

If you’ve never asked God into your heart before, you can do it today. If you don’t know what to say, this can get you started.

God, please forgive me for sinning against you. I’m sorry for trying to live life on my own, apart from you.

Thank you, Jesus, for dying in my place and taking the punishment for my sins for me.

LORD, please come into my heart and be the leader of my life.

Please guide my steps, take my burdens and show me Your way. Thank you for loving me.

Amen.

If you’ve prayed that prayer, you have a reward coming to you that you can’t even imagine. It’s an eternal reward and it can never be taken away.

As for what you might be dealing with in life, keep praying about it. You don’t need specific words to say, just talk to Him – and even better, take time to listen to Him.

Get plugged into a local church, where folks can pray with you and for you. Doing this has made a huge (positive) impact in my life, that’s for sure. 🙂 

God sees where you are and He cares about you. You’re not in this alone and you’ll make it through this!
