You Know the Feeling (But You Can Do Something About It)

You know the feeling.

It could be big or small, but someone just did something that hurt you. Careless words were said. A friend just cancelled plans with you, and it’s not the first time it’s happened. Your husband or wife is doing that one thing that really drives you nuts. Someone just failed to meet your expectations in some way. You got dumped. Someone cut you off in traffic. Your boss overlooked you for a promotion. It can be major or it can be minor, but the list goes on and on.

As I said before, you know the feeling when this stuff happens. Let me see if this covers it: sadness, anger, frustration, resentment, rejection, bitterness, and maybe even the tiniest desire to be spiteful or try to get some sort of revenge.

A Shield

2 Samuel 22
29 Our LORD and God, you are my lamp.
       You turn darkness to light.
30 You help me defeat armies and capture cities.
31 Your way is perfect, LORD, and your word is correct.
You are a shield for those who run to you for help.

That last sentence is exactly how I experience God’s love sometimes. It really is a shield against all of the messy stuff that we encounter in our lives. A shield against evil and all of the things, big and small, that come between us and peace.

I’m glad that shield is there…not sure how I would make it sometimes if it wasn’t 🙂 Now, to remember to keep running toward it and not away from it like I have done so many times in the past. The more faith, the better as far as I’m concerned!

Have a good day everyone.
