Doug’s Banjo Tab Book, Vol 1

My friend, Doug is a talented banjo player (and a nice guy) and he recently produced a great resource for banjo players.

It’s a digital download and the download includes the following:

  • 12 Licks in Key of G (tablature)
  • 12 Licks in Key of D (tablature)
  • 12 Licks in Key of C (tablature)
  • 12 Songs

The download also includes more than 50 mp3 tracks, with tablatures done with banjo midi, and includes some of songs in full-band versions.

I wanted to share this with you, because Doug put a lot of work and a lot of heart into this project. I had the opportunity to chat with him about it the other day and if you’re a banjo player, this is a resource you will want to have.

Here is the download link. You can also purchase a USB stick version.

Oh, and here’s Doug playing banjo if you want to listen to some of his music. Hope you enjoy the banjo tab book and happy picking!

Beyond Belief

“We’re content to pitch our tent
When the glory’s evident
Seldom do we know the glory came and went

Moving can seem dangerous
In this stranger’s pilgrimage
Knowing that you can’t stand still, you cross the bridge

Leap of faith without a net
Makes us want to hedge our bet
Waters never part until our feet get wet

There’s a higher place to go, beyond belief, beyond belief
Where we reach the next plateau, beyond belief, beyond belief”

This song is a great reminder to me to live by faith, not by sight. Because, after all, He’s got this…

Philippians 1:6
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

CONSUMER ALERT: Turn off WiFi Assist if you have iOS9

https://kutv.com/news/offbeat/this-one-new-iphone-feature-called-wi-fi-assist-could-cost-you-thousands-of-dollars

From the article:

Here’s how to disable “WiFi-Assist”:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click Cellular
  3. Scroll all the way to the bottom and disable Wi-Fi Assist. If the slider is not green anymore, the feature is disabled and you are safe once again.

WiFi Assist

This is a rather deceptive move from Apple and one that will no doubt cause some headaches and financial troubles for unsuspecting iPhone users who have upgraded to iOS9.

Basically, if you leave this setting on when you upgrade, your iPhone will automatically switch to cellular data if a WiFi signal is lost. As you might guess, this could lead to some monumental data usage amounts – and bills – if you’re doing any kind of video streaming or listening to music online.

So, just a friendly heads-up today to make sure to turn off WiFi Assist on your iPhone!

Have a great day.
