Just Keep Livin

Discovered this song the other day. It has a nice island sound to it and the ‘goodbye to winter’ lyrics he slips in there were exactly what this Midwesterner needed to hear as my least favorite season has officially worn out its welcome around here.

But as the song goes, “We’ve got to make the best of what we’ve been given.” Yep. Good stuff. 🙂

Enjoy, and have a great day.

Winter: Stop Ahead

The calendar version of spring about to begin, but temperatures here in the Midwest are hovering around or below the freezing point.

The way I see it, it’s time to send a friendly message to winter that it needs to be stopping soon.

Here’s to some sunshine and warm temps coming to join us in the very near future 🙂

Have a good day.

Winter Stop Ahead

Sky

We have been blessed with some very nice weather in the Midwest the past few days. As in, 70 degrees with just the right combination of warmth from the sun and a faint, slightly cool breeze.

When you live in a region that experiences both extreme cold and extreme heat, you learn to really appreciate conditions like this. These are the days when I want to do so much outside, that sometimes I almost end up ruining the experience of simply enjoying it!

So I decided to relax and take in the evening. I sat down on a chair on the patio yesterday evening and just looked around for a while. The birds were chirping and it was really peaceful out there.

I couldn’t get over how blue the sky looked. Here’s a shot, looking up from my chair…

Just, perfect.

I’m always amazed at how impressive nature is when a few minutes are dedicated to observing  and experiencing it. As a person with a lot of energy and who does not excel at being still for long periods of time, this is something I really need to force myself to do more often.

A beautiful sunset closed out the evening on the patio. I went inside and realized I’d spent the past hour or so basically just staring at the sky.

Not a bad way to spend an evening. I’m thankful for it…it was a great reminder of how awesome God’s creation really is.

Genesis 1
Then God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.” And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens. 8a God called the space “sky.”

The Rail Deal

The high-speed rail movement is alive and well in Illinois! Click here to see what’s happening in the Land of Lincoln and throughout the Midwest.

From the site: “The Midwest is working as one region to connect its residents through improved high-speed and intercity passenger rail service.  Connecting the metropolitan areas of the region, such as Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Des Moines, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Madison, Minneapolis- St Paul and St. Louis, to each other through rail will create new jobs, stimulate private investment, expand transportation options and reduce our environmental impact.”
