All you can do in life is your best. After that it’s out of your hands. So do your best, and let God handle it from there.
‘With a few kind words, you can change a person’s life.’
-Joyce Meyer (video)
So true…but at the same time, it is also true when you substitute the word ‘kind’ with ‘hurtful’.
Our words have power. Plain and simple. Harnessing them so we are speaking joy and love into others’ lives instead of pain and hurt is not an easy task, but it’s a very important one.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Yep, that pretty much sums it up. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m a work in progress with this.
Ask God today for the strength to speak words of life, not words of death. It’s not something we can control on our own…no matter how skilled we are at communicating.
Speak life into those you encounter today. As the quote at the top says, you can change their life – and for the better, if the words you say are with love.
Have a great day!
How many times do you think, ‘How did I get here? Why am I here?’ I know I’ve thought that more than just a few times.
But the words above are true. Where you are right now is exactly where you’re meant to be. It might not be where you’re meant to stay, but it is where you’re meant to be. Hopefully you can find peace in that. It’s so important to have peace.
God’s got you right where He wants you. No matter what has led you to where you are and no matter how much pain you’ve felt along the way, you’re here. You made it! That certainly counts for something.
Where you go from here and how you look at your situation in the meantime, well, a lot of that is up to you. May the choices you make be ones that bring honor to God and joy to your life.
Have a good day.
It’s amazing how many ups and how many downs are included in this little package we call life.
Some days you’re up, some days you’re down. Things can be going along perfectly fine and then, WHAM! All of that changes. It works the other way, too. You can be totally down on your luck and have something wonderful happen to you when you least expect it to.
Life is unpredictable and it really is quite the roller coaster ride. Every time I think I have it figured out, I’m reminded that I don’t have a clue as to what’s around the next turn. It can just come out of the blue. It doesn’t have to be anything specific or significant either. Just, ‘Hmm, what’s up with that?’
This made me smile when I read it, and I’ll explain why in a moment.
1 Corinthians 15
20But Christ has been raised to life! And he makes us certain that others will also be raised to life. 21Just as we will die because of Adam, we will be raised to life because of Christ. 22Adam brought death to all of us, and Christ will bring life to all of us. 23But we must each wait our turn. Christ was the first to be raised to life, and his people will be raised to life when he returns.
Notice anything in those verses that relates to everyday life? This is a fairly ‘roller coaster-esque’ couple of sentences if you think about it.
You have the highest highs – the promise of eternal life. You have the lowest lows – the fall of man. And, as an aside, you have a direct reference to the waiting that we all have to learn to do in between.
Something about this just gave me an added sense of peace as well as some perspective when I read it. There will be highs and there will be lows but through it all, God is in control.
I’d love to hear your take on this. Feel free to share your thoughts.
Have a great day!
