Today’s Question: Google Plus is Now Open to Everyone…Are You In?

Well, it’s official. We are all special enough to join Google+ now. The bouncers have left their posts at the entrance doors and the VIP tag has been removed.

From the Google guy’s blog post today:

100. Anyone can sign up for Google+—no invitation required.
For the past 12 weeks we’ve been in field trial, and during that time we’ve listened and learned a great deal. We’re nowhere near done, but with the improvements we’ve made so far we’re ready to move from field trial to beta, and introduce our 100th feature: open signups. This way anyone can visit google.com/+, join the project and connect with the people they care about.

Over the next day we’ll be rolling out all of these features globally. In the meantime, you can check out what’s next in Google+.

So, are you going to be a part of it? Vote below.

Today’s Question: Google+

Google+ is here. Admittedly, I don’t know enough about it to know if that’s a good thing but I do want to share the news with you, in case you haven’t heard.

Here’s a write-up on today’s launch:
http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9217992/Google_goes_after_Facebook_with_Google_

From the article:

Google’s new service, which now is only available to a small group of users and invitees, is designed to enable people to post status updates, share links and upload photos.

However, what Google hopes will set its social network apart from Facebook and the smaller social networking services is that Google+ is set up to allow users to communicate within separate groups of their online friends. Instead of posting an update that goes out to everyone, Google+ enables users to create “circles” or groups, such as a user’s poker buddies, college friends, work colleagues and family members.

Now a user can communicate separately with each group.

So, what do you think? Will you try it out when it becomes fully available?

Please vote in the poll below. It’s anonymous and takes all of two seconds to complete. Thanks!
