Friends

Friends

Just taking a few moments this morning to recognize the blessing that friends are in our lives.

My wife (who happens to be my best friend) and I have been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with friends these past few weeks. An annual gathering of folks I’ve known since the late 90s, a weekend visit by a couple we know from church, another weekend visit by my wife’s friends from many years ago, playing tennis with some good folks I know, stopping in at a friend’s going away party and catching up with other friends in that group, folks who have stopped in along with some of our kids’ friends.

Friends are just a real blessing, aren’t they? Every conversation is unique yet every one is the same, in that, it is a potential memory being made. It’s just nice to be able to be yourself and enjoy the company of others at the same time. Hooray for friends! Thanks, God.

Have a great day.

Gold

‘Whatever you’ve been told, you’re worth more than gold.’

Love this song and its message. Meanwhile I’ve noticed that as my kids start to grow up a bit, the whole popularity thing has started to creep into some of the conversations.

As someone who never quite got it when it came to popularity while growing up and was never in the ‘in’ crowd, to hear my kids talk about this stuff has reminded me that I need to remind them it’s not about who thinks your cool enough (or in today’s age how many ‘friends’ or ‘followers’ or ‘likes’ you have on social media sites.) It’s about God’s love for us. It’s perfect and will always be there to validate us. That’s where our true worth comes from…not from the opinions of others.

This song is perfect for kids or teenagers, or anyone really. I love the encouragement it offers and will be sharing it with my kids.

Of course, I also wanted to share it with you here. If you’ve never heard it, hopefully it will make ya smile (and don’t forget to check out the remix while you’re at it.)

So don’t be ashamed to wear your crown. You’re a king, you’re a queen, inside and out.

Have a good day.
