It Will be Worth It

Heard this song at church today, as part of a message about patient endurance. As in, trusting God knows what He is doing and that He hasn’t forgotten you, even during the low points of life and when you’re not getting the answers you’re hoping for.

Great reminder to me to keep pressing on when life doesn’t make sense, or when the answers may not seem to be coming.

At the same time today, a great opportunity to give thanks for all of the things that are coming together and the answers to prayer that have been given.

God is faithful. Keep going. Keep trusting. Keep turning to Him. The reward will be worth it, in the end.

What to Think About

Heard this today and it was a good reminder.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Here’s why it was a good reminder. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today, for no particular reason. Just grumpy, frustrated, etc. That’s no fun.

Then, I heard the verse at church shortly afterward. The context was, how we have the ability to decide what to think about. We can focus on the junk, the negatives, and pretty much any other thought that will lead to defeat, be in short or long term.

We also have the option to thing about the type of things mentioned at the beginning of this post. Things that will lead us to a place of joy and peace, if we are willing to think about them instead of the other stuff.

This was good timing for me. Maybe it is for you. Here’s to focusing on the good instead of the not-so-good.

Great Things – Expect and Attempt

Hands Raised

“Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God.”

I heard those words spoken at church this morning. Really like this quote!

Being bold in how we pray, how we approach God and how we believe in what He promises…all very important.

Just as important…how we live our lives.

This challenged me today, but also encouraged me. It was a reminder to give my all for Him – at the same time, to be confident in what He can (and will) do in our lives.

I’m so thankful for my local church. Can’t tell you how much God has used it, and the people who are in it, in my life.

What about you? If you’re not plugged into a local church, I strongly encourage you to get plugged in. It can be a real game-changer, for the better.

Friends

Friends

Just taking a few moments this morning to recognize the blessing that friends are in our lives.

My wife (who happens to be my best friend) and I have been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with friends these past few weeks. An annual gathering of folks I’ve known since the late 90s, a weekend visit by a couple we know from church, another weekend visit by my wife’s friends from many years ago, playing tennis with some good folks I know, stopping in at a friend’s going away party and catching up with other friends in that group, folks who have stopped in along with some of our kids’ friends.

Friends are just a real blessing, aren’t they? Every conversation is unique yet every one is the same, in that, it is a potential memory being made. It’s just nice to be able to be yourself and enjoy the company of others at the same time. Hooray for friends! Thanks, God.
