Is God Sovereign?

I don’t know about you, but I tend to give those seemingly not-so-significant moments of worry a lot more credence than they deserve.

You know what I mean. How will I have time to get these tasks done? What will they think about this? Why won’t this work? And on, and on.

Little worries can add up to big stress – if we let them. I’m here to say, I let them. Too often. Ah well, it happens.

That said, I’ve been asking myself one simple question lately, when these little worries start to add up.

Is God sovereign?

As a Christian, the answer has to be yes. Right?

When I make myself remember this, it’s then – during that “light bulb moment” – where I start to feel better and worry less (at least, until I start over analyzing things again).

Of course, I recognize some things in life are genuinely serious concerns that cause genuinely serious cause for worry. But, this also can help during those times…at least, I think so. 🙂

It’s been really helpful to me to ask myself this question during times of stress. Hopefully it will be helpful to you, too!

Have a great day.

Christian woman in Sudan sentenced to death for her faith

Read this if you have a minute and then please pray for this woman…

From the article:

A Sudanese court has sentenced a Christian woman to death for renouncing Islam, her lawyer said Thursday.

Meriam Yehya Ibrahim, 27, was convicted by a Khartoum court this week of apostasy, or the renunciation of faith.

She also was convicted of adultery.

“The fact that a woman could be sentenced to death for her religious choice, and to flogging for being married to a man of an allegedly different religion, is abhorrent and should never be even considered,” Manar Idriss, Amnesty International’s Sudan researcher, said in a statement.

God is like…

My Mom shared this with me a little while ago and I’ve been meaning to share it here.

You may have seen this before. If not, I hope you enjoy it 🙂

Fifth Grade Assignment

A fifth grade teacher in a Christian school asked her class to look at TV commercials and see if they could use them in 20 ways to communicate ideas about God. Here are some of the results:

God is like
He works miracles

God is like
He’s got a better idea

God is like
He’s the real thing

God is like
He cares enough to send His very best

God is like
He gets the stains out others leave behind

God is like
He brings good things to life

God is like
He has everything

God is like
Try Him, you’ll like Him

God is like
You can’t see Him, but you know He’s there

God is like
He’s ready when you are

God is like
You’re in good hands with Him

God is like
He holds through all kinds of weather

God is like
Aren’t you glad you have Him? Don’t you wish everybody did?

God is like
Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor ice will keep Him from His appointed destination

God is like
The heartbeat of America

God is like
Good to the last drop

God is like
He’s the quicker picker upper

God is like
He keeps going, and going, and going

Where I Belong

Sometimes it feels like I’m watching from the outside
Sometimes it feels like I’m breathing but am I alive
I won’t keep searching for answers that aren’t here to find

All I know is I’m not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong

So when the walls come falling down on me
And when I’m lost in the current of a raging sea
I have this blessed assurance holding me.

All I know is I’m not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong

When the earth shakes I wanna be found in You
When the lights fade I wanna be found in You

All I know is I’m not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong

Let’s Rock

I recently discovered Air1 Radio. Good stuff. Worth checking out if you like Christian and/or alternative rock music.

I’ve heard this song several times on there. It has a little more ‘muscle’ than most of the songs I post on here but hey, it’s Friday…let’s rock!

(Oh, and the song has a terrific message if you stop head banging long enough to listen to what they’re saying.)

Have a great day and weekend everyone.
