Bigger than Any Box

‘We have a very big God. He is bigger than anything in our past, anything in the future, and bigger than any box.’
-Bob & Emilie Barnes

Devotions

My wife and I read this in our devotions book the other night. It was a great reminder.

I don’t know about you, but I have put God in a box so many times in my life. Long ago and in recent times, too. It can be just about anything.

‘Oh, I doubt that this will ever happen.’

‘There’s no way that could change or improve.’

‘What’s the point of doing x, y, z…’

You get the point. We all do it. But if you think about it for a minute, there’s no reason to!

After all, we have  a very big God and it doesn’t take me more than a few seconds (when I do stop to think about it) to realize all the things He has done for me and is doing for me in my life right now. Yet there I am, still putting Him in a box at times, limiting my thoughts to…well…my thoughts.

That’s the key part, right there. He has bigger thoughts, bigger ways, bigger plans than anything we can dream up – and certainly bigger than anything we think can’t happen.

Isaiah 55:8-9
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

So, what about you? Are you putting God in a box in your life? Try tossing the box out and just letting Him do what He does. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the end result. 🙂

Have a great day.

A Pathway Through the Wilderness

God Will Make a Way

Isaiah 43:19

‘For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.’

The Year of the LORD’s Favor

Orange & Blue

Isaiah 61

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
    instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.

They will rebuild the ancient ruins
    and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities
that have been devastated for generations.
Strangers will shepherd your flocks;
foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.
And you will be called priests of the Lord,
you will be named ministers of our God.
You will feed on the wealth of nations,
and in their riches you will boast.

Instead of your shame
you will receive a double portion,
and instead of disgrace
you will rejoice in your inheritance.
And so you will inherit a double portion in your land,
and everlasting joy will be yours.

“For I, the Lord, love justice;
    I hate robbery and wrongdoing.
In my faithfulness I will reward my people
and make an everlasting covenant with them.
Their descendants will be known among the nations
and their offspring among the peoples.
All who see them will acknowledge
that they are a people the Lord has blessed.”

I delight greatly in the Lord;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
For as the soil makes the sprout come up
and a garden causes seeds to grow,
so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness
and praise spring up before all nations.

Something New

Something New

Isaiah 43:19
For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

Amen!

God makes all things new…I’m so thankful for that. He redeems us from the trials in our lives and gives us fresh hope for greater things. We are all blessed more than we can comprehend. Praise the LORD!

Hope this verse encourages someone today. Have a great day!

Rise

‘Yes I will rise. Out of these ashes rise.’

Great song, great message. Just thought I’d share it with you today.

Whatever struggles you may be going through right now, you will rise from them. Have faith and turn to God. He has you where you are for a reason 🙂

Have a great day.

Isaiah 60:1
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
