He Said

So your life feels like it don’t make sense, and you think to yourself, ‘I’m a good person.’ So why do these things keep happening? Who you are ain’t what you’re going through, so don’t let it get the best of you.

He said…I won’t give you more than you can take and I might let you bend, but I won’t let you break.

I love this song.

Remember, God has a great plan for you – even when things in your life seem confusing, frustrating, or all messed up. He’s never going to let you go, so hang in there and believe that it will get better…it will!

Have a great day.

Joshua 1:9 I’ve commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the Lord your God, and I will be there to help you wherever you go.

You’re Not Alone

A promise you can always hold…you’re not alone.

Just a short message today to anyone who’s feeling lonely or alone in this world. You’re not alone and you never will be. God loves you!

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

A Shield

2 Samuel 22
29 Our LORD and God, you are my lamp.
       You turn darkness to light.
30 You help me defeat armies and capture cities.
31 Your way is perfect, LORD, and your word is correct.
You are a shield for those who run to you for help.

That last sentence is exactly how I experience God’s love sometimes. It really is a shield against all of the messy stuff that we encounter in our lives. A shield against evil and all of the things, big and small, that come between us and peace.

I’m glad that shield is there…not sure how I would make it sometimes if it wasn’t 🙂 Now, to remember to keep running toward it and not away from it like I have done so many times in the past. The more faith, the better as far as I’m concerned!

Have a good day everyone.

Your Worries Can Wait

Matthew 6:27
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Did anyone raise their hand and say “I can!” in response to that question? Yeah, me neither.

Worried!

Worries can overwhelm us as human beings. Life is full of stress, and decisions to be made, and priorities to sort out, and so much more.

But if we keep carrying our worries with us everywhere we go and letting them dominate our thoughts, they can run us down.

I came across this for the first time in a while and thought I’d share it here – if you’ve never read it before, it’s worth a minute of your time.

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked, “How heavy is this glass of water?”

Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.

The lecturer replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you’ll have to call an ambulance. In each case it’s the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”

He continued, “And that’s the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won’t be able to carry on.”

As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we’re refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.

So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down. Don’t carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you’re carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can.

This part broadens it a bit…

So my friend, put down anything that may be a burden to you right now. Don’t pick it up again until after you’ve rested a while.

Don’t let your worries overwhelm you. Take a break from the stress, think positive, and pray often. It will all be ok, whatever it might be 🙂

All Your Needs

“You can’t always get what you want.”

The Rolling Stones took that line and made it famous with their hit song 40 or so years ago. It still applies today and it always will here on Earth.

Life can seem really unfair sometimes. We all go through times when we simply do not get what we want – for some, it may seem like this happens all too often.

Whether it’s a promotion at work that doesn’t materialize, asking someone out and getting turned down, a coveted toy as a kid that never makes it to the living room, or something far more serious…as we go through life we are going to encounter times when what we want is not what is planned for us. It doesn’t make a lot of sense and it can be frustrating and lead to some pretty rough sailing.

I can think of plenty of times in my life when it felt like I just wasn’t getting what I thought I should get. Pretty sure I’m not alone, there. It’s tough to swallow and it can be hard to look on the bright side, especially if it’s something you’ve tagged with a high level of importance.

There are some powerful words that help me at times like this. I’ve come to really love and cherish this verse and I wanted to share it with you today.

Philippians 4
19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

The part that always makes me feel better is when it says that all of my NEEDS will be met. There isn’t anything in there about all of my WANTS being met, but it specifically says that God will take care of what I need.

I think it’s easy to lose sight of this. I am frequently guilty of it. But it’s written right there, that despite my unfulfilled wants and all of the things that don’t seem to come to fruition at times…God has and is going to continue to give me what I need.

It’s a reminder that I have so much more than I deserve and more than I could have ever earned through any actions of mine. It’s all provided to me because of Jesus and I’m so thankful for it.

I hope this verse helps someone out there today who might be having a hard time or struggling to see the positive side of a situation when it doesn’t seem like you’re getting what you want. Just remember that with Him, you’re always going to have what you need 🙂

Have a great day!
