Here’s to the strong, thanks to the brave. Don’t give up hope, some people change. Against all odds, against the grain. Love finds a way, some people change.
I’ve always liked this song. I believe that anyone can change, no matter who they’ve been and what they’ve done in their life. Not everyone does, and I recognize that. But anyone can…and some people do, just like the chorus of that song says.
We talked about this topic a bit in our church group recently. It was a really good conversation and it is always refreshing to hear about people turning their lives around and the grace that is involved in the process.
I love stories about lives being changed and I love seeing how the Holy Spirit can work wonders in people.
It makes me sad when people think others can’t change, or that they themselves can’t change. It’s a lie that the powers of evil tell us to try to convince us that good things can’t be achieved by or come from others or ourselves.
I guess it’s the easier path to write people off or write parts of ourselves off by thinking, “There’s no way that can change.” Problem is, by taking that path there is no faith and without faith, negative thinking can very easily become the law of the land in our minds.
So to anyone who is currently believing the lie that you can’t change something for the better, I challenge you to look past that and believe that you can. Believe that others can too.
Against all odds…some people change.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
