I heard these words spoken today:
“When you invest in the Kingdom of God, you will always get a return on your investment.”
I couldn’t agree more.
Life is full of ups and downs. It’s unpredictable. We’re going to have good times and we’re going to have bad times in our lives.
The speaker this morning talked a bit about financial investments and the current state of the economy. Perfect example of how your monetary endeavors are the furthest thing from a guarantee.
The amount of money you have, your job, your possessions, your ‘well being’ in the sense of financial terms…they can all disappear in the blink of an eye.
Our health is only as good as the breath we are currently taking. We all take it for granted at times. I know I do.
I have lost loved ones in the past year. Death is something we all face as human beings. Neither our health nor our Earthly lives are permanent things.
Emotional well-being is something that can prove to be elusive. I’ve been blessed to have experienced some really, really happy times in my life. I’ve also gone through some incredibly difficult times as well. Happiness can be hard to find and even harder to hang onto, if you’re basing it on what’s going on in your life.
The point is, life on Earth is always changing. There are no guarantees here. You can build up your nest egg, only to have it disappear. You can be a model of health, only to fall ill. You can vow to be happy, only to find nothing but sadness.
That’s where investing in the LORD changes things.
If you don’t have a penny to your name, you still have the love of God behind you. If you are sick or if you have experienced loss in your life, you still have the love of God behind you. If you’re depressed to the point of feeling hopeless, you still have the love of God behind you.
God will never change. His love for us does not waver. He has an unending desire for us to seek Him and be in a relationship with Him that will provide the inner peace and stability that nothing on Earth can provide.
I love this verse. It speaks far better than I can.
Zephaniah 3:17
For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
Getting back to the statement I first mentioned at the top of this post…in recent years of my life I have come to realize that investing in God (learning more about Him, talking to Him, trusting Him) has given me a great return. During the ups, the downs, and every point in between.
It’s the peace of mind the LORD has blessed me with in return that I just can’t describe. It’s the best return on an investment I could ever ask for during my time here on Earth.
I just want everyone else to know that this kind of unconditional love and this kind of investment return exists and this is available to you, too.
If I’ve been able to experience peace in my life (I have quite the restless spirit, folks) then imagine the returns you could get in your life by making a similar investment.
God bless. Have a great day.
Thank you for reading the blog Mary Lu! Have a great evening.
